| The Newman Endowment Fund: |
| The last few years have been a time of great change and growth for Newman's Campus Ministry, much as it has been for the Catholic Church in the United States. Bishops have had to make hard choices about dwindling resources, and unfortunately in many dioceses, Campus Ministry is often given last consideration. With the blessing of (now) Bishop Emeritus Walter F. Sullivan, Newman started, last year, an Endowment Fund. With this fund, we hope to provide a steady and growing stream of income for the campus ministry, which includes student-led programs, associated building costs, and campus minister salaries. The Endowment Fund will put Newman on a solid, permanent foundation for the future, stabilizing its ability to provide continued sacraments and sacramental preparation for the large student Catholic population at Virginia Tech, currently exceeding 5000. We have set our goal at an ambitions one million dollars. FOR 80 YEARS THE NEWMAN COMMUNITY HAS MADE A DIFFERENCE AT VIRGINIA TECH. WE HOPE, WITH YOUR HELP, WE CAN MAKE THAT DIFFERENCE PERMANENT. As of May 1, our Endowment Fund is worth $15,000 To pledge a gift to the Endowment Fund, contact Fr. Richard Mooney, 540-951-0032 x 103 or newmanc@vt.edu |
