MASSES

One of the biggest expressions of our common faith is through the celebration of the Eucharist. We hold three Masses each Sunday (10am, 12pm, and 8pm). These Masses are well attended by both students and local community members.  We also hold daily Mass on Tuesday and Thursday evenings at 5pm and on Wednesday mornings at 9am.

FAITH SHARING

One way in which students are engaged in expressing their faith is through weekly faith sharing groups.  Our community works with the Renew International organization to provide weekly, small group, student-led faith sharing based on each week's Gospel reading. We currently have several groups that meet at different days throughout the week. Contact Clint Durney (cdurney@vt.edu) for more information.  We will have an iformational meeting about Faith Sharing groups on Monday, Spetember 14th at 7:00pm at the Newman House.

NEW STUDENT RETREAT

Our new student retreat, entitled "Dreams and Visions", is held annually each Fall.  During this welcoming retreat, upperclassmen lead new students through the process of transitioning out of high school and taking a more active role in their faith as a young adult college student.  This year, Dreams and Visions will be held Friday evening on October 2nd and conclude in the evening on Saturday October 3rd.  The retreat will be held at the Newman House. To register, contact Clinton Durney (cdurney@vt.edu).

KOREAN CATHOLIC COMMUNITY

The Korean Catholic Student Association is an organization of Korean Students who are Catholic or interested in Catholicism.  We gather at the Newman House every Saturday at 7 PM. At every meeting, we do Bible studies, some outdoor activities, and enjoy the comradery of one another.   In addition to our normal gathering, we will also join the larger Catholic Community to share in other events at Newman. If you are interested in KCSA, please contact to vtkcsa@hotmail.com  We welcome all students in the name Jesus Christ.

RCIA

The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) is a fantastic process through which adults enter into the Catholic Church.  It’s a process that carefully prepares its participants in the teachings, prayers, Sacraments, Scripture, and mission of the Catholic faith.  It is an incredible opportunity to join a vibrant community!

If you or a friend are not Catholic and are interested in finding out more about the Catholic Church and RCIA, please contact Dave Ballintyn at dballint@gmail.com.

Participants in the RCIA process will meet on a weekly basis during both the Fall and Spring semesters.  Come join us!

CONFIRMATION

Baptized Catholics are invited to enter into formation for the Sacrament of Confirmation.  Candidates for Confirmation will gather together on a weekly basis to explore Scripture, the Church’s Tradition, and the life that God calls them to live.  Confirmation is, ultimately, a public acknowledgement of your desire to enter more fully into the holy and welcoming Church community.

If you or a friend are a baptized Catholic and are interested in finding out more about the Sacrament of Confirmation, please contact Dave Ballintyn at dballint@gmail.com.
