April 16th, 2007 started out in just the same way as any other, normal spring day. Then, at 7:15 am, gunshots were fired in West Ambler Johnston Residence Hall, killing two students. At 9:45, gunshots echoed throughout Norris Hall killing 31 people, professors and students, and injuring many more.

At 7pm, the Newman Center, which is the Catholic Campus Ministry at Virginia Tech, held a Mass of Healing in the ministry's house just off campus. These are the songs we sang along with those that touched our lives in the days and weeks that followed.

This was an emotional and at many points a difficult project to mentally comes to grips with. But we feel like it is important to record this small piece of history to share with people all over the world. We want our voices of hope to become everyone's voice.
A special thanks to:
Fr. John Grace, Stephen Pishner, GIA Publications, Fr. Richard Mooney, Kathleen Haley , Jeremy Miller, Fr. George DeCosta, Maureen Tooker, Fr. Ray East, Damian Salas, Jack & Carol DeCicco, Roland Lazenby, Brian Gendron, Jose & Karen Melendez, Martha Morris, Debbie McClintock, Theresa Eugenio, Stephen Belcher, Dr. Theodore Sipes and to all those that prayed for the success of this project.

All proceeds will go towards defraying the cost of the CD. If and when the cost is covered, donations will go directly into an account for service and mission trips students decide to take in the future. Every spring, students from Tech travel to Haiti, Mexico and other places in need of service and outreach.

In March of 2008, the Newman Community at Virginia Tech sent 40 students to Mexico, Haiti and Chicago, IL.

We continue to want to serve others and we thought this would be a tremendous way to support that effort and at the same time share the music that "spoke" to us, that comforted us, and that continues to help us heal.
